Thermal energy reflective curtain lining

Keep your room warm in winter, cool in summer

New for winter 2022, our energy reflective (ER) curtain lining is the first and only ‘hybrid’ that helps you save on energy costs as well as providing blackout.

How much energy will an ER silver lining save?

  • In a typical application, a window with a curtain lined with ER silver lining transmits up to 5x less heat energy, compared to a window where the curtain has a conventional cotton lining. This means more heat can be kept in during the winter - and rooms can be kept effortlessly cool during the hot summer months.
  • Adding an interlining or fleece to the ER blackout gives the ultimate energy-saving performance.

Energy reflective curtain lining - the specification

  • One of a kind - ER is a truly new energy efficient curtain lining
  • A unique combination of energy reflecting and blackout performance.
  • Saves heating and/or air conditioning energy costs all year round.
  • Two-way effects - reflects heat energy back into the room in cold climates, back out of the window in warm climates.
  • Traps insulating air and excludes drafts - a true ‘thermal’ fabric.
  • Independently tested by 2 leading laboratories to show maximum performance with the silver side facing the heat source.
  • Fire retardant and non-fire retardant versions available.

Plumbs curtain linings

We offer 4 types of linings, a wide choice that allows you to personalise your curtains and blinds and solve issues around chilly rooms or sensitive sleepers.

Standard curtain lining

Used to enhance and give the face fabric a backing, they help to make the curtains drape beautifully and to protect the curtain fabric from direct sunlight.

Blackout lining

A specialised lining fabric which will block out the light from your window. Typically used in bedrooms but can be used in any room. It will help block the curtains from direct sunlight and therefore stop fading. Blackout lining will also keep your room cool during the day when curtains are drawn to keep the sun out.

Thermal Interlining

A specialised lining which will not only keep your room warm and cosy throughout those colder months, but it will also keep hot air out by reflecting it outside in the warmer months. This interlining can help reduce energy consumption and is perfect for a window or door which has a draft. Thermal interlining is used with standard or blackout lining and will give the curtains a beautiful drape.

Energy reflective (ER)

This hybrid lining has all the properties of both blackout and thermal linings combined. It’s proven to reflect heat energy out of, or into, a window, keeping heating costs down in the winter, reducing air conditioning costs in the summer, or both! It traps insulating air and excludes drafts, a true thermal.
